The name of the footwear used for playing soccer is commonly referred to as cleats, or in Europe, boots. However, if you are speaking of indoor soccer, it is quite proper to refer to your cleats as shoes, especially since they don’t actually have the spikes usually associated with cleats.

Indoor soccer shoes should have a non-marking rubber sole, meaning even hard use on a gym floor or other surface will not leave it worse for the wear. Many players who frequent both grassy and indoor fields refer to their indoor shoes as flats, and their traditional grass field shoes as cleats. Flat soccer shoes are also appropriate on dry artificial surfaces, even when outdoors.

Before we consider the different types of uppers available on soccer shoes, a brief explanation of what is meant by the term upper will help you in your decision process. Quite easily put, the upper is that section of the shoe which will come in constant contact with ball. Uppers can be comprised of an assortment of natural leathers and synthetic blends of leathers.

One friend of mine asked me recently why all men are crazy about playing football or what is known in United States as soccer. I am sick of explaining things that you can only understand based on personal experience. But although I managed to provide her with a luminous answer, she came back stating yet another question. “Is it different to play soccer on the grass than to play it on the beach?” That was a good one. “Of course it is different,” I replied. Beach soccer, as you can tell by its name, is a sport played on the beaches; preferably during spring or summer time. Although it has been played informally for decades, it was given its official name and rules only recently and specifically in 1992. Since then it managed to become a rather popular sport and I believe that if you really want to learn something about soccer you should better start playing it on the beach.

Over the years Kids Soccer has exploded onto the sporting arena. More kids play soccer than any other sport in the world. As coaches and parents a lot of emphasis is placed on training methods and fitness. Without a shadow of a doubt theses areas are important, but the most important aspect of the game, nutrition is overlooked.

Just a quick question before I dive into the importance of Nutrition. Would you drive your car when it was about to run out of petrol? A safe bet would be no. Then why do soccer players attend training or even a match on an empty stomach. If you coach a soccer team or even parent a soccer player, nutrition is crucial to peak performance. It’s not only crucial for performance but it’s a necessity for well being.

Do you know what glycogen is? Kids that are playing soccer have no idea of what glycogen is. Do they really need to know what glycogen is? No they do not! However, coaches and parents should inform their players about the importance of a balanced diet that include high amounts of carbohydrates.

Students try out in college soccer recruiting for a spot in college soccer teams. Soccer is a sport played between two teams consisting of eleven players, and is thought by many to be the most popular sport in the world.

As the games got more and more violent, soccer was at times suppressed by English sheriffs who followed royal orders decrying the sport as a useless activity. King Henry IV and Henry VIII passed laws against the sport, and King Edward III passed laws that threatened imprisonment to anyone caught playing soccer.

These laws, however, failed to curtail the popularity of the sport, which earned official sanction in England by 1681. The game had become so popular by 1800s that, in certain annual contests in the northern and middle regions of England, large mobs roamed and raged through towns and villages during play. In 1829, an account of such a match in Derbyshire described people with “broken skins, broken heads, torn coats and lost hats.”

The documentation of the development of soccer in England shows Eton College with the earliest known rules of the game in 1815. This supports the implication that, until then, chaos prevailed during matches, as evidenced by the recorded laws that were meant to stem the violence that resulted during the matches.

Are you ready to join billions of players worldwide by taking part in the world’s most popular sport?

Learning how to play soccer makes you a member of the globe’s biggest community – and the best part is, it’s easy to do.

Playing soccer as a beginner can seem daunting, but in fact it is simple to pick up. The game is played by eleven players on each team on a field that, while varying in size, is generally around 115 yards by 75 yards. The object is to propel the soccer ball across the opposition’s goal-line into the back of the net.

All you need to play is a marked field, two teams, a soccer ball, and an idea of the laws of the game. Thankfully these are also very elementary for the beginner, at least in their basic form.

There are some complex rules that only enthusiasts and experienced players fully understand, but the beauty of football is in its simplicity. With this in mind, remember a few core rules: only goalkeepers can touch the ball with their hands; when tackling for the ball, if you miss and hit the player, it’s a foul; a foul in the defender’s goal area results in a penalty kick; and there are corner kicks, goal kicks, and throw-ins, depending on how and where the ball goes out of play.

There are many ways to stretch before a soccer match for relaxation of muscles to avoid pain and injury during rigorous play. There seems to be a set of stretching techniques offered by the sports medicine community to the condition for the physical body. But these techniques right for everyone?

Having played and coached soccer for over thirty years now, I have attended all sorts of ways that amateur athletes go through stretching before a game and I tried myself some at the request of others. I have never followed these methods of stretching, because they caused a certain malaise that seems to hinder my game The warming for a game by stretching was not for me.

Most players stretch before a game, but there are some among us who give up this practice for our own warming techniques. It seems to me, based on my observations over the years, that the strongest supporters of pre-stretching long periods of the game are also those actors who has suffered all kinds of problems with their legs and their knees and build muscles and get cramps. There is great information on conditioning, by the way, that http://www.SoccerCountry.com to May be useful for you.

Women’s soccer never would have been the same if Mia Hamm hadn’t started up soccer when she was little. She had such an impact on women’s soccer that she is often thought to mean as much for it as Pele or Cruyff meant for men’s soccer. But before being a great soccer player and athlete that broke down almost every possible record at her level, Mia Hamm is a great person and I’d like you to meet the human behind the soccer god in this Mia Hamm biography.

If you’re like me, you’re probably wondering how and when did Mia Hamm start playing soccer and what events drove her to become a super star of women’s soccer. Mia Hamm’s childhood circled around sports and athleticism and as her brother recalled, she was faster and more athletic than most of the boys on the block, so she was able to play competitively with and against them.

After taking up youth soccer training at her school’s football team when she was only 12 years old, she learned the basics of soccer and started enjoying the sport more and more. Little did she know that three years later, when she was just 15, she would be called up for the United States national women’s soccer team, becoming the youngest player ever to play for her country at that level (one of her first broken records).
