Everyone has a friend whose betting technique is basic as it is stupid: lay chalk across the board. He tries to convince you getting USC -45 more than Washington State may be the lock of the week despite the truth how the Trojans have yet to cross the 30-point barrier all period. The Yankees at -325 with CC about the mound? No issue, the Yanks have won nine straight! You forget to inform him he hasn’t done his homework because the Evil Empire clinched the night prior to and is starting their AAA lineup behind Sabathia. Occasionally these chalk bettors just need to discover a lesson. Now you need to lend this chump buffet money for that rest from the trip because he forgot the quantity 1 sports handicapping rule: do not fall in love with favorites.

Laying chalk is a strategy oddsmakers simply countered with inflated spreads, run/pucklines (my obligatory hockey shout out for that year) and severely juiced moneylines. In a sport like baseball, the best team generally hovers around a .600 winning percentage so why risk taking any team at greater than -150? The only worth you can discover here is creating your personal teaser or parlay, and nicely, we all know how that goes. (link to last entry here)

It is widely considered the most popular game on earth. Played by millions of people from nearly every walk of life, and in nearly every nation, soccer – football or futbol as it is commonly known beyond the borders of the United States – is a sport that can be played by nearly anyone. Aside from the skills needed to maneuver the ball using your body, but not your hands – except for the goal keeper – soccer owes much of its international appeal to the fact that all you need to play is an open space and a single ball.

The mountains of equipment needed to play other sports – like tennis, golf, baseball, American football, and so many others – are an anathema to the soccer player. It is the ball, and only the ball, that one needs to play the game. But the soccer ball is not a generic item; there are many kinds of soccer balls on the market, and each has its own characteristics that differentiate it from the other balls.

As an athlete and sports buff most of my life that I get sick of hearing people to a point outstanding athlete and say: “He has the genetic” or “He was born to play like that” . Really, to OJ Simpson who has suffered from being bowlegged because of deficiencies in vitamin is born to be one of the best running backs in American football?

The truth is that the only thing that makes every great athlete a great athlete is practical. Soccer is no different; greatest Pele, Ronaldo and Beckham all have this in common. They practiced constantly to the point of exhaustion and beyond. It is a practice that gives you both the competence and confidence to be able to make the passes and shots that make a difference in a match. If you want to be a great soccer player then you must commit to daily practice from now.

Sport and activity holidays are hugely popular nowadays, as people look to practice their skills in a new environment or even learn an entirely new sport as part of their holiday. Many sports and activities, like skydiving and scuba diving, can be much cheaper to do abroad than in the UK. But despite all the dangers associated with extreme sports, insurance for dangerous activities abroad usually isn’t researched as carefully as it should be. Many people assume that their cheap travel insurance covers any and every sport or activity that they may decide to try while on holiday. This is not so – you have to read the small print!

The sports and activities covered by your insurance will vary from policy to policy, but specialised sports travel insurance will undoubtedly be necessary to cover the higher risk activities. For these more dangerous activities, you are likely to face higher costs for the insurance itself and larger premiums if you do make a claim. For many of the riskier activities, Personal Accident and Personal Liability cover is not included.

Every sports travel insurance provider will have a different way of grading various activities; I’ve always split sports into two main categories…

Well, if the summer season days are not hot enough in Dallas, there’s one element that’s guaranteed to make them warmer – Dallas Cowboys Football!!!

Earlier this year, the NFL introduced the schedule for the Cowboys and, at first glance, this year’s looks like to be the toughest to date. Not only are the Dallas Cowboys subjected to competing in the most difficult division in the NFL, they will have to face off with all of those matchups two times. The divisional schedule alone is great enough to make Jay Ratliff well up with tears yet the brutality of it all does not cease at that.

Outside of duking it out with their divisional enemies – the Washington Redskins, Philly, and the NY “football” Giants – the ‘Boys have upgraded the level of competitiveness for their Thanksgiving Day game, facing last year’s Super Bowl champion New orleans saints.

Toss in an early-December road trip to Indianapolis and a battle with the Titans and you’ve got yourself a circumstance designed to call on you to play at a level much higher than the opposition – and to accomplish this on a continual basis.

Want to be an NFL cheerleader? NFL cheerleaders are important to the world of American football. Without them, football teams would not have the public image that they hold today as cheerleaders go out on the sidelines to entertain the audience, make appearances, and participate in charity events. However, getting into the NFL cheerleader squad is not an easy task as hundreds participate in the auditions each year to get one of the few coveted openings.

Preparation

If you’re interested, the first thing you should do is to make a phone call or visit the homepage of the NFL cheerleaders squad. Keep track of when the audition is taking place. Auditions usually last a few days with preliminary rounds, semi-finals rounds, and final rounds. Find out what you will be doing on those days ie, what kind of dance, is there a freestyle dance, is there an interview session, other requirements.

Not all squads are the same. Some have different dancing styles so it would be handy to watch their moves in order to prepare for the audition. Watch their moves on TV or online on their website or Youtube.com. Some squads offer clinics or classes so make sure to take advantage of those to better prepare yourself. Also these clinics/classes can get you more exposure to the team which could work in your favor come audition time.

The 49ers of San Francisco are, without a doubt, one of the top team in the history of the National Football League. Winners of five Lombardi trophies, the 49ers were a powerhouse in the Eighties and Nineties. With their West Coast offense and sterling quarterbacks, they were the very definition of the word “dynasty” during their heyday. From 1984, the team managed to have ten or more victories in each of the next sixteen seasons – and incredible accomplishment. Some of the talent during that time frame ranks among the most regarded players of all time, with names like Jerry Rice and Steve Young. Of course, it is also impossible to overlook the presence of perhaps the greatest quarterback of all time – and a man responsible for four of those Super Bowl wins: Joe Montana.

The iconic quarterback
